Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough, room temperature
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt. Set aside.
- On a lightly floured surface, divide pizza dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch long rope. Place on prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each breadstick with garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. While baking, make the marinara sauce.
- In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft, about 4 minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve breadsticks warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Tips
- For extra garlic flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder to the butter mixture.
- Leftover marinara can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- If using store-bought dough, let it come to room temperature for easier shaping.
