Ingredients
2 (12-inch) frozen pizzas (cheese or pepperoni)
1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Remove frozen pizzas from packaging and cut each into 2-inch squares. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned and onion is translucent. Drain excess fat.
Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Arrange half of the pizza squares in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spoon half of the meat sauce over the top, then sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella cheese.
Repeat layers with remaining pizza squares, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Top with Parmesan cheese.
Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted and lightly browned. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Tips
For a vegetarian version, omit meat and add sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, and olives.
Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
Serve with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
