Ingredients
1 loaf (about 1 lb) French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place the bread cubes evenly in the dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure all bread is soaked. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove casserole from refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Drizzle melted butter over the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and set in the center. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
