Ingredients
- 125g unsalted butter
- 125g light brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons golden syrup
- 250g rolled oats
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F. Line a 20cm square baking tin with parchment paper.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and golden syrup over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in oats and salt until fully coated.
- Press mixture evenly into prepared tin using a spatula or back of a spoon.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown at edges but still soft in center.
- Cool in tin for 10 minutes, then score into 12 bars while still warm. Leave to cool completely before removing from tin.
Tips
- For chewier flapjacks, bake 20 minutes; for crunchier, bake 25 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Add 100g dried fruit or chocolate chips with the oats for variation.
