Fill the espresso machine's water tank with fresh filtered water and turn it on to preheat (ensure the machine is at the correct temperature, typically 90-96°C).
Place the portafilter in the machine's group head to warm it up, then remove and dry it thoroughly.
Add the finely ground coffee to the portafilter basket, level it with a finger, and tamp firmly with about 30 lbs of pressure to create a compact, even coffee puck.
Lock the portafilter into the group head, place a pre-warmed espresso cup under the spout, and immediately start the extraction.
Brew for 25-30 seconds until you have about 1 oz (30 ml) of espresso with a golden-brown crema on top.
Serve immediately.
Tips
Use freshly roasted coffee beans ground just before brewing for best flavor.
The ideal water temperature is between 90-96°C (195-205°F).
If the espresso drips too fast or too slow, adjust the grind size accordingly.
