Ingredients
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons meringue powder
3 tablespoons water
Assorted gel food colors (red, green, gold)
Edible glitter or sanding sugar
24 pretzel sticks or candy canes
24 mini marshmallows
24 chocolate stars or snowflake sprinkles
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until thick and glossy. This is royal icing. Divide into three bowls and tint one red, one green, and leave one white.
Dip the tip of each pretzel stick or candy cane into the white icing, then into edible glitter. Place on parchment paper to dry.
For marshmallow snowmen: skewer three mini marshmallows onto a toothpick. Use red icing to pipe a scarf and green icing for buttons. Add a chocolate star hat on top.
For holly leaves: pipe green icing into leaf shapes on parchment. Add red icing dots for berries. Let dry completely.
Arrange decorations on a platter with cookies, cupcakes, or brownies. Use extra icing to attach decorations as needed.
Tips
Royal icing dries hard, so make decorations a day ahead.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
