Ingredients
8 slices rye bread or sourdough
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
8 slices roast beef
8 slices turkey breast
8 slices ham
8 slices Swiss cheese
8 slices cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 large tomato, sliced
1 red onion, thinly sliced
1 dill pickle, sliced lengthwise
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Lay out 4 slices of bread. Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise and 1/2 tablespoon mustard on each slice.
Layer on each sandwich: 2 slices roast beef, 2 slices turkey, 2 slices ham, then 2 slices Swiss and 2 slices cheddar.
Top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, red onion slices, and pickle slices. Season with salt and pepper.
Place remaining 4 bread slices on top to close the sandwiches. Press down gently.
Secure each sandwich with long toothpicks or skewers. Cut in half diagonally and serve.
Tips
Use sturdy bread to hold the fillings; toast the bread lightly if desired.
