Ingredients
- 12 oz (340g) penne pasta
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a large oven-safe skillet or pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add cooked pasta to the sauce and stir to combine. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
- Transfer to oven (if using oven-safe skillet) or pour into a 9x13 baking dish. Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Tips
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the oven or microwave until hot.
