Ingredients
1 cup cola (not diet)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine cola, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Whisk until smooth.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low.
Simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and reduced by about one-third.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let cool.
Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld before using.
Tips
For a smokier flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Use as a glaze for ribs, chicken, or burgers during the last 10 minutes of grilling.
