Ingredients
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa), finely chopped
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine milk and cream. Heat over medium heat until steaming, but do not boil.
Add chopped chocolate, sugar, and salt. Whisk constantly until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is smooth.
Reduce heat to low and continue whisking vigorously for 2-3 minutes until frothy and slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Pour into cups and serve immediately.
Tips
For extra froth, use a handheld milk frother or immersion blender before serving.
Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more or less sugar.
Store leftover chocolate in the refrigerator; reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave, whisking to re-emulsify.
