Ingredients
4 all-beef hot dogs
4 hot dog buns
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add tomato sauce and water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Meanwhile, grill or pan-fry hot dogs over medium heat until heated through and lightly charred, about 5 minutes. Warm buns on the grill or in a toaster.
Place each hot dog in a bun. Spoon chili over the hot dogs, then top with shredded cheddar cheese. Serve immediately.
Tips
Top with diced onion, jalapeños, or mustard for extra flavor.
Leftover chili can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
