Ingredients
- 1 cup chicle gum base (pellets or chunks)
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon flavoring oil (e.g., peppermint, spearmint, or fruit)
- 1/2 teaspoon glycerin (optional, for softness)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Place the chicle gum base in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second bursts until softened but not melted, about 2 minutes total.
- Add corn syrup, powdered sugar, flavoring oil, and glycerin (if using). Stir with a wooden spoon until well combined and a dough forms.
- Dust a clean surface with powdered sugar. Transfer the gum mixture onto the surface and knead gently for 2-3 minutes until smooth and pliable.
- Roll the gum into a log about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 20 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a small ball or pillow shape. Roll each piece in powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
- Let the gum rest at room temperature for at least 1 hour to firm up before chewing.
Tips
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
- For softer gum, add an extra 1/2 teaspoon glycerin.
- Experiment with flavor combinations like cinnamon-mint or cherry-vanilla.
