Ingredients
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 cup warm water (110°F)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 8 sticks (about 3x1/2 inch each)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let stand 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until a dough forms. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
Punch down dough. Divide into 8 equal pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece into a 6x4-inch rectangle.
Place a mozzarella stick along the short edge of each rectangle. Roll dough tightly around cheese, pinching seams and ends to seal.
Place breadsticks seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic powder, oregano, and salt. Brush over breadsticks. Sprinkle with Parmesan.
Bake 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
Tips
For extra flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes to the butter mixture.
Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat in oven.
