Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns, split
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 slices red onion
4 pickle slices
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp mayonnaise
Instructions
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, slightly larger than the buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
Toast buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden.
Spread mayonnaise on bottom buns, then add lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle.
Place cheeseburger patty on top, then spread ketchup and mustard on the top bun. Close burger and serve immediately.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a slice of bacon or sautéed mushrooms.
Serve with french fries or a side salad.
Let patties rest for 2 minutes after cooking for juicier burgers.
