Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside for at least 30 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, stretch dough into a 12-inch round, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Transfer dough to a floured pizza peel or parchment paper. Brush edges with olive oil.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Slide pizza onto preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and browned.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with Parmesan if desired. Let cool 2 minutes before slicing.
Tips
- For a crispier crust, preheat the baking sheet or stone for at least 30 minutes.
- Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture, but pat dry to avoid sogginess.
- Leftover pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 375°F oven.
