Ingredients
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Instructions
In a large pot with a tight-fitting lid, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add 3 popcorn kernels and cover. When they pop, the oil is ready.
Remove the pot from heat, add the remaining popcorn kernels, and cover. Let sit for 30 seconds to allow kernels to come to temperature.
Return the pot to medium heat. Shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning. When popping slows to 2-3 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
Immediately pour the popcorn into a large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with salt. Toss well to coat. Serve warm.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika with the salt.
Store leftover popcorn in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
To re-crisp, spread on a baking sheet and warm in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes.
