Ingredients
1/2 cup gum base (pellet or block form)
1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus more for dusting
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon citric acid
1/2 teaspoon bubble gum flavoring oil
1/4 teaspoon glycerin (optional, for softness)
2-3 drops food coloring (optional)
Instructions
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the gum base in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted (about 1-2 minutes total).
Stir in corn syrup, citric acid, glycerin (if using), and food coloring until well combined.
Add the bubble gum flavoring oil and mix thoroughly.
Sift in the powdered sugar gradually, stirring until the mixture becomes too stiff to stir.
Turn the mixture onto a surface dusted with powdered sugar. Knead like dough, adding more powdered sugar as needed, until smooth and no longer sticky (about 5 minutes).
Roll the gum into a log and cut into small pieces, or shape into balls. Dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
Let the gum pieces rest at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight to firm up before chewing.
Tips
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
For a softer gum, add an extra 1/4 teaspoon glycerin.
Experiment with different flavor oils like watermelon or grape for variety.
