Ingredients
1 lb ground pork
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried sage
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried marjoram
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground pork, salt, pepper, sage, thyme, marjoram, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Mix gently until just combined.
Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. For patties, shape each into a flat round about 1/2-inch thick. For links, roll each into a small cylinder.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages in a single layer, not overcrowding.
Cook for 5-6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F).
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot.
Tips
For best flavor, let the seasoned meat rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before cooking.
Leftover sausages can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
Serve with scrambled eggs, pancakes, or in a breakfast sandwich.
