Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons milk or water
1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
Instructions
In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
In a second shallow dish, beat eggs with milk or water until smooth.
Place breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
Pat the food dry with paper towels. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
Dip the floured food into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off.
Coat the food evenly with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place on a wire rack or plate.
For best results, let the breaded food rest for 10-15 minutes before frying to help the coating set.
Fry in hot oil (350°F/175°C) until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes depending on thickness.
Tips
For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs or add 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs.
Season the breadcrumbs with dried herbs like oregano or garlic powder for added flavor.
Leftover breading ingredients can be stored separately in airtight containers for future use.
