Ingredients
4 slices stale white bread
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
Tear bread into pieces and place in a food processor. Pulse until coarse crumbs form.
Spread crumbs on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway, until golden and dry.
Let cool completely. Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings. Store in an airtight container.
Tips
Use any type of bread: white, whole wheat, or sourdough.
For finer crumbs, pulse longer; for coarser, pulse less.
Store in a cool, dry place for up to 1 month, or freeze for up to 3 months.
