Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
8 slices bacon
4 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
1/2 cup sliced pickles
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat a grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Form the ground beef into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
Grill or pan-fry the patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium. During the last minute, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
Toast the buns on the grill or in a skillet until lightly golden.
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun, then ketchup and mustard on the top bun. Assemble each burger with lettuce, tomato, patty with cheese, bacon, and pickles.
Tips
Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest patties.
Let the patties rest for a few minutes after cooking to retain juices.
Customize with additional toppings like onion rings or jalapeños.
