Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
In a small bowl, combine mashed bananas and sour cream. Add banana mixture to butter mixture alternately with flour mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips
For extra banana flavor, use very ripe bananas with brown spots.
Store cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
