Ingredients
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Add cold butter pieces and use a pastry blender or your fingertips to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized butter bits.
Use immediately as a topping for apple crisp, or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Tips
For extra crunch, add 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts.
If the topping is too dry, add 1 tablespoon cold water and mix gently.
Freeze unbaked topping in a zip-top bag for up to 3 months.
