Ingredients
1 lb ground pork
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard for serving
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet.
Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster. Assemble burgers with desired toppings and serve immediately.
Tips
For extra flavor, add 1/4 cup finely chopped onion or 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley to the meat mixture.
These burgers can also be cooked in a cast-iron skillet for a nice crust.
Leftover patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
